The Tender Heights are a three-piece Indie-rock band formed and based in Cambridge.

They came together for some extremely productive jam sessions after meeting at a university shindig. Singer Georgie Cannon and drummer Brendan McGurk had been playing together for a while before guitarist James Wood was added to their line-up.

They have quickly gained a loyal following by developing a distinct sound, blending beautiful, haunting melodies, on top of edgy, gritty guitar riffs, all held together with clinical, chilled grooves. It makes for a unique yin-yang audio experience. Their inspiration spans a wide range of genres and artists including the likes of PJ Harvey, Warpaint and Sonic Youth.

The Tender Heights released their debut single, ‘New Boy’ in February 2024. The lyrics explore the complexities of modern relationships and delves into themes of desire, anticipation, and vulnerability, while Its driving guitar riff locks perfectly into a tight drum groove. Their second single, ‘Back To The Sea’, came out a few weeks later. This chilled, more laid-back track tells the story of two people who, at a pivotal point in their relationship, go away together, with the trip taking an unexpectedly great turn. It’s positive and optimistic. Their new EP is due out later this year, to be supported by live dates.
